Rahman baba pashto poetry and his life biography

 Rahman baba original name was Abdur Rahman Mohmand. He was born in 1632 and died in 1706. He was a Sufi poet and it is said that he was from Mohmand agency a tribal area in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. His poetry narrates the spiritual side of Islam. Rahman Baba and Khushal Khan Khattak are renowned poets in Pashtun history. Several people have different views about the Sufi order of Islam. Some people are of the view that Rahman baba was revealed to Chishti Order, some say that he belonged to the Qadriyyah order, and some claim that Rahman baba was Hanafi, but no view is clear about his Sufism.

The poetry of Rahman baba was translated into many languages, copies of his diwan (a combination of his poetry is called Diwan) are reserved in different libraries of the world. His collection of poetry (Diwan) are placed in Pashto Academy Peshawar, British Library, Manchester/England, Bibliotheque Nationale/Paris, John Rylands library/Manchester, the Bodleian Library in Oxford in Paris and university Library Aligarh. The collection of his poetry was published for the first time in 1877 in Lahore located in Indo-Pak sub-continent. This collection is mostly repeated by the people since long till date and remarked by the people.

The tomb of Rahman baba was built and decorated in a manner that the people from far and wide come to visit this beautiful shrine. On March 5, 2009, and unfortunate the occurrence happened when the terrorist ruined the building of Rahman baba shrine which damaged his tomb and nearby building but the government of Pakistan re-constructed the shrine and damaged parts of the Rahman baba complex by spending a huge amount of money.
