Yumna Zaidi was born in the village Arif Wala in Lahore. Lahore was her hometown where she grew up. She is the daughter of a businessman from Lahore who owns a business and is a housewife. The acting was a purely accidental career choice for her as she did not properly plan on becoming a showbiz star. She was raised in a strict environment. This has led Yumna believes that she has some fear inside her.

Her father name is Zameendar Zaidi and mother Shabana Naheed Zaidi. Unfortunately, her father passed away in 2019.

 She was not intending to become an actor. Nevertheless, at the instigation of her friend Affan Waheed, she stepped into the acting realm by playing the supporting role in ARY Digital's 2012 domestic drama Thakan and then the leading role in Khushi Ek Roag.
