There is 500mg of paracetamol in each Panadol extra tablet, along with 65mg of caffeine. For treating tough pain, these tablets are mainly used because they relieve pain quickly and effectively.

With the addition of caffeine to Panadol Extra, paracetamol becomes more analgesic.

Dosage of Panadol Extra tablets

The dosage can be varied between 1 and 2 tablets every 4 to 6. Take no more than eight tablets in 24 hours i.e the maximum number of tablets to be taken in 24 hours is 8.

Do not exceed four times per day. Children under the age of 12, do not take this medication.

When possible, use the lowest dose required to achieve efficacy.

If you overdose on paracetamol, you may develop liver failure, which may result in liver transplantations or death.

Paracetamol can cause liver damage when there is underlying liver disease.

As Panadol contains paracetamol, there may be an increased risk of spontaneous abortion with the use of paracetamol and caffeine during pregnancy.

It is not recommended to use panadol extra if you are hypersensitive to its ingredients.

Immediately stop using Panadol extra,  if you notice an unexpected side effect or adverse reaction when using it or if you know of an adverse reaction associated with the use of these tablets.

It crosses the placental barrier into breast milk and is excreted there but Paracetamol has not been proven to affect lactation according to human studies.
